The first graduation of doctors from the Faculty of Medicine took place in 1922; 37 graduates received certificates conferring the title of doctor. The graduates of the first years of the faculty's existence produced remarkable scientists and health care organizers throughout the country - the future Minister of Health of the USSR G.A. Miterev, RE. Kavetsky, T.I. Broshevsky, G.K. Lavsky, P.N. Askalonov, I.I. Kukolev, Ya.M. Grinberg, V.A. Klimovitsky.1930s - the time of formation of an independent medical university. It was then that institute clinics were created - a separate page in the history of the university, new forms of joint work of medical science and society as a whole were laid. At this time, gradual and increasingly increasing interaction between the staff of the Kuibyshev Medical Institute began (from 1935 to 1991 the city of Samara was called Kuibyshev) with organs state power and practical healthcare. Consultative work of the staff of the Kuibyshev Medical Institute and doctors of its clinics in the population began to be increasingly carried out. In the same 1930s, teachers and students began to actively participate in scientific work; in 1939, the first scientific conference was held at the institute. A special page in the life of Samara State Medical University is associated with the military medical training of doctors. Kuibyshev Medical Institute was one of the founders of the glorious traditions of military medical education in Russia. In connection with the approaching war, an increasing number of trained military doctors were urgently needed to strengthen the country's defense capability; the government was deciding the issue of repurposing one of the civilian medical universities into a military educational institution . A decent scientific and educational base, the presence of its own clinics, trained teaching staff - all this played a primary role in the choice of the Kuibyshev Medical Institute to carry out this then urgent state task.

In April 1939, the Kuibyshev Medical Institute was reorganized into the Kuibyshev Military Medical Academy of the Red Army. For the first time in the country, in just four months, a civilian medical institute was urgently transformed into a higher military educational institution. The permanent teaching staff was staffed by employees of the Kuibyshev Medical Institute and the S.M. Military Medical Academy. Kirov from Leningrad. Despite all the difficulties and the enormous medical work carried out in evacuation hospitals, scientific research continued to be intensively conducted at the Kuibyshev Medical Institute, and the educational process did not stop for a day. |

In the clinical complex for the provision of orthopedic and traumatological care, joint transplants have become common, and all the most modern technologies for patient rehabilitation are used, including gravity therapy, recognized as a new direction in medicine. The social infrastructure of the university consists of five comfortable student dormitories, housing more than 2,500 students, two modern gyms, a large number of sports rooms, creative student clubs. |

Graduate School Contacts
Postgraduate studies — postgraduate education. The purpose of postgraduate study is to educate qualified scientific personnel capable of conducting research work, independently setting and solving current scientific problems, and adequately perceiving scientific achievements specialists in the same field of knowledge, transfer their knowledge to the scientific community. The path to science is open to everyone with a higher professional education, i.e. a specialist or master's degree.
Why go into science? If, as a student, you became seriously interested in a certain area of knowledge, or you are attracted to the work of a teacher, then graduate school is the right way to deepen this knowledge. It is not always the case that people enter graduate school immediately after graduating from university. After working for some time, you come to understand the lack of knowledge, and for a career it would be nice to get an academic degree. There is no age limit for admission to graduate school.
Training of specialists top level education and higher scientific qualifications through postgraduate and doctoral studies is one of the most important directions of the scientific and medical policy of SamSMU. The training of graduate students at SamSMU is carried out in 42 specialties in the field of biological, pharmacological, and medical sciences.
For each scientific specialty of graduate school, there is the opportunity to choose the form of study (full-time, part-time) and study conditions (at the expense of the federal budget and under contracts with reimbursement of costs with individuals and legal entities). Completing training in any form of education provides grounds for obtaining higher qualifications. Graduate students undergo training in accordance with their individual plan.
Graduate students must:
- pass candidate exams in foreign language, history and philosophy of science and special discipline;
- have at least 7 published scientific works, including at least 3 from the list recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission in this scientific area;
- complete writing a dissertation or abstract;
- defend a dissertation (or submit a completed dissertation for preliminary examination).
Final state certification for postgraduate students in the main educational program is carried out in the form of candidate exams in a foreign language, history and philosophy of science and in special disciplines.
For scientific examination and defense of dissertation works of graduate students, SamSMU operates 6 dissertation councils that accept candidate and doctoral dissertations for consideration.
Benefits and features
An important step in choosing a graduate school is choosing a scientific specialty. Scientific specialties according to areas of knowledge are classified by the Higher Attestation Commission. They have codes and are presented on the VAK website. Each specialty has its own passport, which describes the object of study of this specialty, as well as the range of issues considered in the field. this direction. It is necessary to decide on a specialty immediately, since dissertation councils accept for defense dissertation works that are clearly defined for this council.
The next step in choosing a graduate school is choosing the form of study. Currently, there are two forms of education: full-time and part-time.
Full-time graduate school stipulates that postgraduate study is the actual place of work of the postgraduate student. He must attend training sessions, participate in the work of the department and institute, conduct classes with students, etc. Full-time postgraduate studies are carried out both on a budgetary and paid basis. A postgraduate student of full-time budget education receives a monthly stipend. Full-time graduate students are given the right to defer from military service for the entire period of study.
Correspondence postgraduate studies stipulates that the graduate student will undergo curriculum mostly on my own.
Full-time postgraduate studies
In accordance with the Federal Law “On Higher and Postgraduate Professional Education” and Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation dated March 16, 2011 No. 1365, postgraduate studies are carried out in accordance with the professional educational program of postgraduate professional education (postgraduate studies).
The standard period for mastering the educational program of postgraduate professional education in full-time education cannot exceed three years.
The educational program of postgraduate professional education in full-time graduate school consists of two main parts: educational and research. IN educational part includes training of postgraduate students in compulsory, elective disciplines and teaching practice. The research part includes the research work of a graduate student and the preparation of a dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Sciences, preparation and passing of candidate exams, preparation for the defense of a dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Sciences. scientific degree Ph.D.
Training in compulsory disciplines includes postgraduate study of history and philosophy of science, a foreign language, as well as special disciplines in accordance with the specialty. In addition, a graduate student can additionally undergo training in a discipline of his own choosing from among those offered by the university. Training is carried out in the form of lectures, seminars and is mandatory to attend.
Studying in elective disciplines is not mandatory, but you should listen to the recommendations of your supervisor. Postgraduate students are required to pass teaching practice. The maximum volume of a graduate student's teaching load should not exceed 54 academic hours per week. The last stage of postgraduate study is preparation for the defense of a dissertation for the scientific degree of Candidate of Sciences, which includes the presentation of the dissertation work to the department or to the council for the defense of dissertations for the scientific degree of Candidate of Sciences. All of the above issues must be resolved by a graduate student during their postgraduate studies.
For a rational distribution of study time in graduate school, the graduate student, together with his supervisor, draws up individual plan. An individual plan is drawn up within 2 months after enrollment in graduate school, considered at a meeting of the department and at the faculty council, after which the individual plan is approved by the rector of the university. The individual plan contains all the main stages of the graduate student’s training and his research work on the topic of the dissertation. The individual plan is filled out by year of study and must contain the deadlines for passing candidate exams, the content of the stages of scientific research and the timing of their implementation, the educational and methodological work of the graduate student, the timing of scientific publications, the schedule for the preparation of dissertation chapters, the timing of pre-defense and defense.
The fulfillment of the individual plan by the graduate student is controlled by the supervisor and the head of the department, for which purpose certification of graduate students is carried out annually at department meetings. The certification results are approved by the faculty council. In case of failure to fulfill the individual plan, the graduate student may be expelled for any period of postgraduate study.
It must be borne in mind that the defense of the candidate's dissertation must take place no later than the date of graduation from graduate school. This means that 4-6 months before the defense date, the graduate student must present the dissertation he has prepared to a department meeting and receive a recommendation to submit the work to the dissertation council for defense. Dissertation Council gives permission to distribute the abstract.
Postgraduate study by correspondence
One of the forms postgraduate education is a correspondence postgraduate course. Part-time postgraduate studies provide self-study a number of disciplines and independent work on dissertation research. In accordance with the training program, the correspondence student takes the candidate minimum exams. The minimum candidate program includes exams in the history and philosophy of science, a foreign language and a specialized subject.

The Medic nutrition center was created on the basis of Samara State Medical University in January 2005.
12 years have passed since the formation of the unit and during this time we had to go through a difficult and long path of formation and development. The nutrition center began its existence with two canteens and two buffets. Gradually, the number of buffets increased and currently there are seven buffets affiliated with the Nutrition Center.
Along with the increase in the number of food outlets for students and employees, the range of dishes and goods expanded. Daily painstaking work on new recipes helps to constantly introduce new interesting dishes to the menu. Special attention pays attention to the quality of cooking. The tasty and varied menu attracts more and more not only students and employees, but also people who sometimes accidentally find themselves in the Medic Nutrition Center.
A very important criterion for the department’s work is the schedule of canteens and buffets that are convenient for students. Considering that many students live in university dormitories, food outlets are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This allows you to have a delicious breakfast before starting educational process and have an equally delicious lunch after it’s over.
