Training work on the history of the exam

Passing the Unified State Exam in history is a prerequisite for admission to a number of prestigious professions: advertising and marketing, tourism business, law, journalism. Last year, 21% of all graduates chose this subject; But not everyone manages to pass this test with dignity. What's the catch?

The Unified State Examination in history covers the entire period from the era of the first ancient Russian princes to the reforms of the 21st century. All tasks must be completed in 235 minutes (this is almost 3 hours; time, if distributed rationally, is quite enough).

History this year is taken in the form of an exam consisting of two parts:

  • Part I, consisting of 19 multiple choice questions;
  • and part II, which includes 6 tasks that involve the integrated use of students’ knowledge and skills.

11th grade takes an exam on the same topics as 9th grade graduates; but the level of complexity is almost an order of magnitude higher. In the Unified State Examination in History there are no test items in the usual sense of the word; all questions require a multiple-choice answer. Tasks are divided into 3 levels according to degree of difficulty:

  • Basic level (in the codifier it is marked with the letter “B”) – contains 16 tasks;
  • Advanced level (“P”) – 8 questions;
  • AND high level(B), which involves knowledge outside the school course: includes 7 tasks.

The passing threshold this year is 9 primary points(or 32 secondary, “test”). For a conditional “four” you need to score at least 24 primary (50 test) points. “Five” starts from 39 primary points.

In total, you can get 55 primary points for the exam: 31 for the first part, 24 for the second. In this case, task No. 25, if performed correctly, gives 11 points (almost half the “cost” of the entire second part).

The early examination period is scheduled for April 2018, while the main stage will take place in early June. The exact date of the exam will be known at the end of November.

Planned changes

There are no official changes to the Unified State Exam in History 2018. The structure adopted in 2017, the formulation of topics and the principles for assessing answers have been preserved. Explicit changes to the Unified State Exam in history are planned only from next year. The Ministry of Education insists on the inclusion of history among the core subjects, along with the Russian language and mathematics. So 2018 may be the last year that history surrenders by choice.

The history demo caused some concern: the 2018 Unified State Exam, compared to 2017, will be more difficult, not least due to the increase in the number of questions requiring knowledge of General history. A significant part of the questions, especially the second part, are aimed at additional lessons with a tutor.

In the first part, you need to give a short answer to each question. This could be a word (or phrase), name, date, location or event. All these questions are aimed at testing knowledge of historical facts, as well as basic skills. In this part, the student will be offered several types of tasks for each of the time sections:

  • Establishing a chronological sequence (question No. 1);
  • Selecting the correct items from the list (No. 7);
  • Establishing correspondence between a historical fact and its characteristics (No. 2, 5, 9, 11, 17);
  • Finding a pattern according to which a number of historical terms or dates are formed (No. 3);
  • Determination based on the given characteristics of a historical fact: date, title, name, term, etc. (No. 4, 8, 10);
  • Brief analysis of the text with the choice of correct judgments from the proposed list (No. 6, 12);
  • Working with graphic material (No. 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19)

Part 2 contains:

  • 3 tasks testing how well students have learned to work with historical texts (questions 20 – 22);
  • 2 tasks in which you will have to determine cause-and-effect relationships, argue your point of view, analyze historical facts and points of view (No. 23, 24);
  • And an essay on historical topics on one of the proposed eras (No. 25).

The last task requires the student to use all the knowledge and skills acquired in history lessons.

Demo to help students

To successfully prepare for the exam, you need to start working from the first months school year. Demo version of the Unified State Exam history has already been published. As in previous years, this is what you need to focus your preparation on.

History is the science of facts

History is a subject that requires knowledge. You can know a lot, but it’s almost impossible to pass history well without knowing the facts. Need to know:

  1. dates, years of certain events;
  2. facts, events, processes and phenomena;
  3. historical figures;
  4. facts of cultural history;
  5. it is necessary to navigate the cause-and-effect relationships.

More information about long-answer tasks

It is clear that eleventh graders still have little life experience, and some things are difficult for them to analyze or compare. But in tasks with a detailed answer, knowledge of facts that are studied in the course of a school subject is tested. The age of students, of course, leaves an imprint on the understanding of these facts. Also, children do not always have the desire to delve into historical sources and understand the cause-and-effect relationships of events.

There were no changes in the work structure in 2017. There is only one change in task number 25 (this is a historical essay). The requirements have been specified and the evaluation criteria have changed slightly.

In a historical essay, you need to write a consistent, coherent text, that is, a mini-essay about one of the periods of history (to choose from three).

There are certain requirements for the essay:

  • the work must present at least two processes or phenomena within the period chosen by the student;
  • two individuals must be indicated, their roles in these events, processes, and phenomena characterized;
  • at least two cause-and-effect relationships must be indicated;
  • historical terminology should be used;
  • You can't make factual mistakes.

Time to complete the work is 3 hours 55 minutes (235 minutes).

Maximum primary score, which can be scored for completing all the work, is 55 points. These 55 points are converted into test scores using a special scale.

What difficulties do those taking the Unified State Exam in History encounter?

As a rule, the following tasks in the first part present difficulty:

  • dedicated to the history of the Great Patriotic War (№8);
  • on knowledge of historical personalities, historical figures (No. 9);
  • on knowledge of the facts of cultural history (No. 17);
  • for the analysis of illustrative material (No. 18 and No. 19).

The second part with a detailed answer also contains a task that turns out to be difficult for 11th grade students. This is an argumentation task (No. 24), which presents a certain debatable point of view that exists in historical science, and graduates need to give 2 arguments from the point of view of supporters of this position and 2 arguments from the point of view of opponents.

Unified State Exam model According to history, it is mobile, it has been improving over the course of several years. Innovations in the Unified State Examination in History

So far, no fundamental changes have been observed in the structure and content of historical CIMs. Of course, graduates of 2018 are interested in the question of whether history will be included in the list of mandatory exams for obtaining a certificate. Rumors that this particular Unified State Exam could be added to the list of mandatory exams have been circulating since 2014. Officials representing the Ministry of Education and Science disseminated information last year that they would have to wait for the introduction of the third compulsory exam costs already in 2018.

Until the 2020 school year, history will still remain an elective subject.

Most specialists from the relevant commissions considered that history is the best choice in this regard, because knowledge of the history of their country modern students frankly lame. However, graduates of the 2017/2918 academic year can breathe a sigh of relief. According to Olga Vasilyeva, who heads the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, history will indeed become the third mandatory Unified State Exam, but this will happen only in 2020.

A representative of the organizing committee must accompany schoolchildren to the first aid station or toilet room. Any action prohibited by the regulations will result in the graduate being removed from the classroom and his test being cancelled.

What is included in the history ticket?

KIMs cover the content of the school course on the history of Russia from ancient times to the present day. In addition, the tickets include tasks from world history, relating to wars, diplomatic aspects, cultural milestones and economic relationships between countries. Distinctive feature This Unified State Exam contains a huge layer of tasks that test knowledge of facts and dates, as well as identifying the extent to which students have analytical and information and communication skills. For successful passing Unified State Examination schoolchildren must:

  • carry out systematization of historical facts;
  • establish relationships of cause-and-effect and structural nature;
  • apply in practice skills in working with texts, tables, illustrations and maps;
  • argue your opinion using historical facts.

To pass, you will have to brush up on your school history course.

KIMs in history are structurally represented by 25 tasks, divided into two parts:

  • part 1 – 19 tasks in which students must choose and write down the correct answers, based on the proposed list; arrange these elements in a certain sequence; match or briefly record the answer as a specific term, date, or name. In total, for this part of the work you can get 31 primary points (56.4% of all points for the ticket);
  • Part 2 – 6 tasks requiring a detailed answer. Tasks of this type allow us to identify and evaluate the complex skills and knowledge of students. So, in tasks No. 20-22 you need to give historical source, extracting and analyzing the information received. In tasks 23 to 25 you will have to study historical processes and phenomena, demonstrate the techniques of cause-and-effect, structural-functional, temporal and spatial analysis, in tasks 23 and 24 - analyze the specified historical situation, and in task 25 - write a short essay on historical topic, choosing one of three periods in the history of Russia. In total, for this part of the work you can get 24 primary points (43.6% of all points for the ticket).

The maximum initial score for the entire work is 55.

The work can be completed within 235 minutes. Experts from FIPI recommend distributing time as follows:

  • Allow from 3 to 7 minutes for each task from part 1;
  • to complete the tasks from part 2 (not counting the essay) it will take from 5 to 20 minutes;
  • for task number 25 (essay) – from 40 to 80 minutes.

Assessing the Unified State Examination in History

Starting from last year, the points that an eleventh-grader received for the Unified State Exam have an impact on the certificate. Maximum score, which can be obtained for this exam, is equal to 100. If we translate the scoring into the school knowledge assessment system, the picture looks something like this:

  • if a student scores 0-31 points, then he does not know the subject and receives a “D”;
  • 32-49 points are identical to the mark “three”;
  • 50-67 points scored for the test allow you to receive a grade of “four”;
  • 68 points and above are considered “excellent”.

Students who want to enroll in higher education must obtain a minimum score of 32 on the test, but this is far from a guarantee of admission. To pass on a budget, most universities require that history be passed with at least 70 points. If we are talking about prestigious educational institutions, then in this case the student is required to have a certificate with 87 points or higher.

How to prepare for the exam?

Preparing for the Unified State Exam in history is not just cramming dates and names that appear in the school course. This subject involves a significant creative component, so that every event that happened in the history of Russia or the world is worth not only memorizing, but also comprehending its causes and consequences.

However, you shouldn’t neglect the structural component of the ticket either - if you take too long to figure out how the ticket is built and how to enter answers to tasks, you will lose valuable time. To practice filling out KIMs and understand what language and historical milestones you will encounter in the 2018 exam, work through the demo version of the ticket (see links at the beginning of the article).

Passing the Unified State Exam requires long and systematic independent work.

Naturally, there is no need to memorize the demo version - the real ticket will differ significantly from the examples both in content and content, although in general the tasks are quite similar. In addition, when during the exam you receive a ticket that is at least roughly familiar to you, you will not be nervous and worry that you will not understand it and will mess up something when completing tasks.

Essay requirements

Preparation for task No. 25 plays a huge role. Experts from FIPI advise students to familiarize themselves with the topics of essays from previous years, and then prepare a short text on each of them. Follow the scheme developed by the methodologists so as not to miss any of the structural parts of the essay:

  • introduction– in this part it is necessary to outline the framework of the selected historical period;
  • main part– here you will have to describe several phenomena or events that became significant for the specified period of time. In this part, the student must mention two historical figures who played important role in the events described, and reveal their influence on a given historical period. Next, you need to analyze the cause-and-effect relationships between events and the consequences to which they led;
  • conclusions– the part in which you need to give a general assessment of the selected period.

The commission will evaluate the essay based on the following criteria:

  • correctness of the specified events (2 points);
  • correct choice of historical figures and competent definition of their role (2 points);
  • the accuracy of the causes and effects of certain historical events(3 points);
  • correct assessment of the influence of this historical period on the future fate of Russia (1 point);
