The monument was opened on Victory Day - one of the many Great Victories of Russia. The whole history of St. Petersburg began with the Victory. Peter I ended his reign by transferring the relics of Alexander Nevsky from Vladimir to the banks of the Neva. The new monument reminds us that St. Petersburg is not only the “city of St. Peter,” but also the “city of St. Alexander.” The monument to Alexander Nevsky formed a single ensemble with the Bronze Horseman. Both stand almost on the banks of the Neva: one is at the beginning of Nevsky Prospect, the other is at its end.

Realizing that he was not able to resist the Mongols, Alexander did not enter into conflict and went to Mongolia. Usually stern and arrogant towards the vanquished, Batu received Alexander and his brother Andrei very kindly. The chronicle says that the khan, having seen Alexander, said to his nobles: “Everything that they told me about him is all true: there is no one like this prince.”

Shortly before this, Pope Innocent IV invited him to convert to Catholicism in exchange for his help in the fight against the Mongols. Alexander rejected this proposal in the most categorical form. He was the only Orthodox secular ruler not only in Rus', but throughout Europe, who did not compromise with the Catholic Church in order to maintain power.

The Grand Duke was returning from the Mongol Khan along the Volga River, already ill. There is an opinion that in the Golden Horde they added poison to his food. Instead of returning to his capital, Vladimir, he went to his brother Andrei in Gorodets, where he died. Before his death, Nevsky was tonsured with the name Alexy. Alexander Yaroslavich had 5 children: Vasily, Dmitry, Andrey, Daniil, Evdokia.

On November 23, 1263, a funeral service was held in Vladimir. The people's grief was great: the crying and groaning of the people drowned out the church singing, “the sun of the Russian land has set,” they said then. His death was perceived as a national tragedy. During the funeral service, a miracle happened: when they began to place the prayer of permission into the coffin for the deceased, he himself extended his hand for it and again folded his hands on his chest. This event marked the beginning of the posthumous veneration of Prince Alexander Nevsky.

In 1724, by order of Peter I, the relics of Alexander Nevsky were transferred from Vladimir to St. Petersburg, for the establishment of a new capital, founded on the banks of the Neva, where the holy knight glorified Rus' with his victories. The relics were installed in the Alexander Nevsky Lavra. Here they rest to this day, showing miracles through faith and prayers. We have to discuss important issues related to the preparation and holding of ceremonial events dedicated to the upcoming significant date in 2021 - the 800th anniversary of the birth of the great statesman, illustrious commander, defender of the Fatherland, champion of Orthodoxy, the holy noble prince Alexander Nevsky.

Alexander Yaroslavovich performed princely service at a difficult time when the Russian land, torn apart by internal strife, found itself under attack from an external enemy. But by the grace of God, thanks to the state wisdom and military leadership talents of Alexander Yaroslavovich, Rus' worthily withstood the most difficult trials that befell it. The name of the holy prince is rightfully inscribed in the history of Rus', to the creation of whose greatness he made a significant contribution. And not only in the creation of greatness, but in the salvation of our Fatherland, because it was during the time of Alexander Nevsky that our Fatherland could cease to exist and turn into fragmented entities, forever at odds with each other, under the heel of foreign invaders.

Anticipating the discussion, I would like to note that the blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky should not remain in our minds only as a hero of the past, who once defeated the Swedish and German knights. Alexander Nevsky not only defended our Fatherland from the invasion of the West, but also managed to build such relations with the Horde that ensured the preservation of Rus' from constant raids by nomads. This required from him enormous wisdom, diplomatic tact, and the ability to go against the grain. The feat of Alexander Nevsky - not only on Lake Peipus and on the Neva, but also there, in the Horde, where he managed to win over the khan to his side and, most importantly, enlist his support.

The policies of Alexander Nevsky did not meet with complete understanding in Rus', primarily in Novgorod, which he ruled as Grand Duke. However, despite the fact that Alexander did not always receive the support of his own people, he took wise and courageous steps that allowed him to save the country from complete ruin.

For believers of the Russian Orthodox Church, every saint is a living prayer book, and anyone who wants to follow his example is, as it were, an interlocutor with the saint. Love for one's neighbor, the willingness to lay down one's life for the peace and well-being of one's Motherland - this is what Grand Duke Alexander Yaroslavovich, who managed to repel aggression against Rus' from the West and reconcile it with the East, can teach us. He was one of those who laid the foundations of our state, which has become a common home for both Orthodox Christians and representatives of other traditional religions - Muslims, Buddhists, Jews.

The celebration in honor of the 800th anniversary of the birth of the holy noble prince Alexander Nevsky is not just a collection of events. We must renew the memory of our society about our great compatriot, help our fellow citizens see not a frozen monument of history, but an always living image of a wise statesman and a highly moral person.

Solemn events dedicated to the holy blessed prince Alexander Nevsky will take place over the next few years, until the main anniversary in 2021. Today we are about to get acquainted with the plans for the practical preparation of these festive events, and, taking this opportunity, I would like to note the importance of the cooperation of state and public organizations with the Church in this good undertaking. I express the hope that the Ministry of Culture of Russia, the St. Andrew the First-Called Foundation, representatives of federal and regional authorities will provide support to the Russian Orthodox Church in organizing events dedicated to the holy blessed prince Alexander Nevsky. Young readers were interested in the book exhibition, which featured books with poems and stories dedicated to their mother. The children took turns reading poems and choosing the ones they liked the most, with which they congratulated their mothers.

Since childhood, we have all become accustomed to the fact that during the New Year holidays, Santa Claus comes to our house and gives gifts. But there is one day a year when Santa Claus himself accepts congratulations.

The fairy-tale wizard Father Frost celebrates his birthday on November 18th. This date was chosen by the children themselves back in 2005. It is timed to coincide with the onset of frost in the homeland of the birthday boy, in Veliky Ustyug, which is the residence of Father Frost. Previously, it was believed that November 18 was a transition day between autumn and winter. On this day, festivities are held in Veliky Ustyug, guests are invited from all over the world, and even a reception of congratulations is organized through a special mailbox.

Information and educational program “Tolerance will save the world”

On November 16, the International Day of Tolerance, an informational and educational program “Tolerance will save the world” was held in the “Dialogue” Library for children in grades 2 and 3 of the boarding school.

In the introductory conversation “Be tolerant!” The guys got acquainted with the history of the holiday and the concept of “tolerance”, learned what set of qualities a modern tolerant person should have.

After watching a video about tolerance “The Harmony of the World in Its Diversity” and getting acquainted with the book exhibition, young readers realized that it is necessary to treat everyone kindly, regardless of all kinds of differences (be it appearance, nationality, religion, etc.). On October 3, not only elderly residents of the microdistrict, but also residents of other areas of the city came to the Dialogue Library for World Day of Older Persons. At the festive table, library staff told guests about the history of the holiday. The elderly people who came to the library were congratulated by the deputy of the regional assembly Sergei Vyacheslavovich Gavrilov. He emphasized that life does not stand still, but caring for our parents, veterans, grandparents is something that cannot be forgotten for a minute. To support, improve everyday life, and provide real assistance - this is one of our most important tasks for the public today. He wished the guests of the holiday good health for many years to come!

The guests of the meeting were pleased with their songs by the choir of the club of veteran teachers, as well as the bard Leonid Plokhov, a student at Pskov State University. On June 14, in the “Dialogue” library, a travel game “We live in Russia” dedicated to Russia Day was held for children from the summer camp of MBOU General Education School No. 11.

First, the children got acquainted with the history of the holiday, after which the children were divided into two teams. The travel game took place through stations. There were ten stations and at each the guys had to complete tasks.

The first station was called “Flag and coat of arms of Russia”. At this station, the children got acquainted with the meanings of the words “Flag of Russia” and “Coat of Arms of Russia”, and they were also asked to make a Flag out of colored paper and explain the meaning of each color and draw the coat of arms of Russia.

The second station, “Anthem of Russia,” introduced the children to the meaning of the word “Anthem.” A task was also offered where words were missing from the text of the anthem, and the children had to restore the text of the Russian anthem.

The third station was called “My Motherland – Russia”. At this station, the guys learned “Where did the word Motherland come from?”, and each team had to select as many cognate words as possible for the word “Motherland” and answer the quiz questions correctly.

The fourth station - “Russian Proverbs” introduced children to the meaning of the word “Proverbs”. The guys remembered proverbs about the Motherland and guessed proverbs in which all the words were replaced by antonyms.

At the fifth station “Russian Riddles” the children remembered what “Riddles” are and guessed the proposed Russian folk riddles.

At the “Russian Fairy Tales” station, the children were asked to remember Russian folk tales, guess which fairy-tale character this or that thing belongs to, name the name of the hero or fairy tale; from the picture they had to “Guess who it is?” and continue the unfinished phrase. The guys coped with all these difficult tasks perfectly.

On June 8, an event dedicated to Russian Language Day was held in the “Dialogue” library for children from the summer camp of MBOU General Education School No. 11.

The KVN game “Native language, be friends with me” was played with the children. The guys divided into two teams of ten people, pulling out pieces of paper with the names of the teams from the bag. Two teams “Pochemuchki” and “Know-It-All” competed. The game consisted of 6 competitions.

The first competition was called “Warm-up”. In this competition, the children had to answer the given questions as quickly and correctly as possible.

The second competition was called “Proverbs”. In this competition, several tasks were offered for knowledge of proverbs and sayings. Each team was given parts of proverbs written on cards; the children had to connect the parts of proverbs and sayings correctly. In the next task, it was necessary to correct errors in proverbs and sayings, then there was a task in which the children had to learn proverbs in two subjects, as well as a task where they had to depict proverbs or sayings using gestures and facial expressions, there was also another task, where, after listening to a fairy tale, you had to remember a proverb that fits the content. After this there was a little “Recess” - a minute of rest, where the children were offered cards with words, they had to find the animals hidden in the words.

Third competition “Phraseological Units”. In this competition, several tasks were offered, the children were offered a Hungarian crossword puzzle, where various animals, birds, fish, insects, etc., with which people are often compared, were hidden, they had to remember these set expressions, find the names of the animals and cross them out. There was also a task where the children were given parts of phraseological units, expressions and decodings on cards, which they had to compose and voice. After that there was “Change” again - “Karkushi Quiz”. The crow Karkusha likes the words she uses to begin with the syllable KAR-, her questions need to be answered.

The fourth competition “Insert the missing letters.” In this competition, children's literacy was tested; they were offered cards with sentences where letters were missing in the words; they had to insert the missing letters, choosing a test word for each case.

Fifth competition "Rebuses". In this competition, children were offered cards with puzzles that they had to solve.

Sixth competition “Tricky Signs”. “The fairy tale is a lie - but there is a hint in it”

On June 6, employees of the Dialogue Library visited kindergarten No. 46 with the event “A fairy tale is a lie - but there is a hint in it,” dedicated to Pushkin Day in Russia.

The preschool children were shown a presentation from which they learned about the great Russian poet and his family, how many poems, fairy tales and other works he wrote. We learned that as a child, Pushkin loved to listen to fairy tales that his grandmother Maria Alekseevna and nanny Arina Rodionovna told him. The tales of his kind and uniquely talented nanny Arina Rodionovna were a real treasure for Pushkin. Pushkin later used many of her tales as plots for his own fairy tales.

Then a literary quiz with the “Scientific Cat” was held with the preschoolers. The preschool children, together with the librarian and the “Scientific Cat,” traveled through fairy tales and guessed riddles based on excerpts from the poet’s famous fairy tales. The children also danced to the song “Squirrel Dance” - the heroine of Pushkin’s fairy tale “About Tsar Saltan...” and played the game “The Sea Is Worried...”, depicting waves from the fairy tale “About the Fisherman and the Fish.”

The event ended with watching an excerpt from the cartoon “The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish”

Journey through the Book Universe

On May 23, in the “Dialogue” library for the senior group of MDOU No. 46 “Firefly”, an educational and game program “Journey through the Book Universe” was held, dedicated to the All-Russian Day of Libraries.

At the beginning of the event, children learned about the history of the holiday: about the first library in Rus' at the St. Sophia Cathedral in Kiev, founded in 1037 by Yaroslav the Wise, about the founding of the Imperial Public Library on May 27, 1795, which is now called the “Russian National Library”.

Then a multimedia presentation “Introducing the Library” was shown, from which the children learned about the meaning of the word “library” and that libraries existed even before the invention of paper. It was interesting for the children to know that before, books were written on clay plates, papyrus, parchment, birch bark, and even made of leather, and when people had not yet invented letters, letters were written using drawings.

The librarians told the children about the meaning of the words “Subscription” and “Reading Room”, as well as what a reader’s form is and why it is needed. The children got acquainted with the rules for handling books and the rules for using the library.

After the presentation, the children were treated to an interactive literary quiz on their knowledge of fairy tales and fairy-tale characters.

At the end of the event, the children were shown the cartoon “Grishka’s Books,” about a boy who carelessly handled books.

Festive program “My Spring, My Victory!”

On May 10, the “Dialogue” library hosted a festive program “My Spring, My Victory” for veterans and children of the Great Patriotic War, dedicated to Victory Day.

The guests were shown a concert prepared by students of school No. 4. Young musicians performed vocal and instrumental numbers. Veterans heard many warm words and congratulations addressed to them. At the end of the program, a video about Pskov during the Great Patriotic War was shown.
The holiday ended with a leisurely conversation over a cup of tea.
